Pangasinan seeks shift to GCQ with heightened restrictions

Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III has requested the National IATF to upgrade the province's quarantine status from Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions starting September 1.

The request follows Pangasinan surpassing 3,000 active COVID-19 cases on Sunday, August 29, including 58 new deaths and a Delta variant case in Dagupan City.

Espino's letter to the IATF emphasizes the need for stricter protocols to curb the rapid spread of the virus.
