Pangasinan logs first Delta variant case

A 23-year-old OFW who contracted the Delta variant of COVID-19 in Pangasinan has tested negative after his family members also tested negative on August 9.

The patient returned home to Natividad town on August 3 after completing mandatory quarantine in Manila and was found positive for the Delta variant upon arrival.

Health authorities are monitoring the patient and his family who remain under quarantine, while genome sequencing results will take three to four weeks.

Close contacts from various towns in Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Abra are being coordinated with local government units for reswabbing.
