Duterte orders Duque to explain PHP67-B COVId fund deficiencies

President Duterte has ordered Health Secretary Francisco Duque III to explain deficiencies in the DOH's handling of PHP67 billion in Covid-19 funds, as reported by the Commission on Audit (COA).

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the President is withholding judgment until after the DOH submits an explanation and COA releases its final audit report.

The deficiencies were mainly due to non-compliance with laws, rules, and regulations in the transfer of funds, particularly P42.41 billion transferred without a memorandum of agreement or supporting documents.
