PAGASA warns heavy rains, flooding in multiple regions due to ITCZ and shear line

PAGASA warned on Wednesday that heavy rains and potential flooding are expected across multiple regions of the Philippines over the next 24 hours due to a shear line, Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), and northeast monsoon.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains with thunderstorms to parts of Mindanao, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Palawan.

Meanwhile, the shear line will cause moderate to heavy rainfall in the eastern sections of the Philippines, particularly in Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

Overcast skies and rain showers are also affecting Metro Manila due to easterlies, while strong northeast winds will create rough seas (2.8 to 4.0 meters) in eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

Moderate to rough waters (2.1 to 3.4 meters) are expected elsewhere, with Pagasa reminding the public to exercise caution during thunderstorms that can intensify sea waves.
