Paeng causes P3.16B damage to agriculture

As of Nov 5, Severe Tropical Storm Paeng caused PHP3.16 billion worth of damage to agriculture affecting over 83,000 farmers and fishers across various regions.

The DA reported production losses of 197,811 metric tons from 84,677 hectares of farmland in affected areas.

Damaged crops include rice, corn, high-value crops, fisheries, livestock, and poultry, with additional damage to agricultural infrastructure and equipment.

In Pangasinan and La Union alone, Paeng caused PHP8.8 million worth of damage to agriculture and infrastructure as of Nov 2.

Pangasinan reported PHP4.8 million in total damages including PHP1.6 million for agriculture, PHP2.5 million for infrastructure, and PHP685,850 for livestock.

La Union suffered over PHP4 million in agricultural losses across several municipalities with 360 damaged houses and assistance provided to affected families.
