DOTr: Over 40% rail workers tested for COVID-19

As of Thursday, April 8, over 40% of rail workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been tested for COVID-19.

Out of 7,475 personnel working on LRT-1, LRT-2, MRT-3, and PNR, 536 have tested positive, representing 17.2% of those tested.

Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade ordered the testing to ensure safety for commuters; as a result, operations have been reduced with fewer trains deployed due to infected personnel.

Specifically, LRT-1 has seen 117 out of 629 tests positive, while LRT-2 reported 143 positives from 571 tests. MRT-3 and PNR also recorded significant numbers of infections.
