NCR COVID-19 cases drop 19%, ECQ credited

The average number of daily Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila dropped by 19% from March 25 to April 1, according to OCTA Research.

This decline is attributed to the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) measures in NCR Plus areas, which includes Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.

Despite the decrease, OCTA noted that testing has also decreased by 12% over the same period, leading to a high positivity rate of 23%.

OCTA emphasized the need for further scaling up of PCR testing to manage the surge in new cases.
