Over 3K NCR health workers under isolation due to COVID

More than 3,000 healthcare workers in NCR are currently undergoing isolation due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega stated that these isolated workers make up about 11% of the total 26,000 government-employed healthcare staff in the region.

Vega also noted an increase in reinfections among healthcare personnel who are often the first to interact with COVID-19 patients.

Earlier, on January 11th, Vega reported that nearly 7,000 NCR health care workers were under quarantine due to infection, representing about 7.2% of all health care workers in the region.

To address this shortage, hospitals are closing non-COVID services and redeploying staff where needed, while the government has prepared an additional 7,000 plus healthcare workers for augmentation.
