Philippines Logs Over 28,000 New COVID-19 Cases on Tuesday

The Philippines logged 28,007 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the total active cases to 181,016.

Recoveries increased by 4,471, raising the total number of recoveries to 2,792,946 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The previous day's record was 33,169 new cases on Monday, with a positivity rate of 46% and active cases at 157,526.

Monday's high number of infections is attributed to the ongoing Omicron variant surge, particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR), Calabarzon, and Central Luzon.
