NCR on 'severe outbreak' as ADAR rises to 89.42%

The National Capital Region (NCR) is experiencing a 'severe outbreak' of COVID-19, according to the OCTA Research Group.

OCTA reported that NCR's average daily attack rate (ADAR) rose to 89.42% from January 4 to 10, up from 12.71% in the week before.

The ADAR threshold for a severe outbreak is above 75 per 100,000 individuals per day, which NCR has surpassed.

NCR's seven-day positivity rate also increased to 48%, compared to 20% in the previous week.

OCTA noted that while the reproduction number decreased slightly from 5.65 to 5.22, indicating a slight slowdown in transmission, the situation remains critical.
