Oil spill from sunken tanker affects Mindoro, Palawan, Antique

An oil spill from the sunken MT Princess Empress has affected twelve out of fourteen municipalities in Oriental Mindoro and two towns each in Palawan and Antique.

In Batangas, four barangays were also impacted by the spill, leading to a fishing ban in Calapan City and a state of calamity declaration in 23 coastal barangay areas.

The Philippine Coast Guard is conducting clearing operations and verifying if the tanker still contains industrial fuel.
