OCTA: Daily COVID cases in Manila down 19%

The OCTA Research Group reports that daily coronavirus cases in Manila and nearby cities have decreased by 19%, with an average of 862 cases for the week ending Aug. 29.

The virus reproduction number has dropped to 0.95, indicating decreasing infections.

As of Aug. 25, the positivity rate fell to 12.7% from 14.6% a week earlier, while healthcare use and ICU occupancy rates remain low at 33.3% and 25.8%, respectively.

OCTA also predicts that daily infections in the Philippines could drop below 1,000 by mid-September and reach around 500 cases by the end of next month.
