National U women's volleyball team edges past Ateneo in tight match

Four teams in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament, including title-favorite National University, will attempt to secure their first wins on Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena after losing their opening matches.

National University narrowly won against Ateneo de Manila University with a score of 25-17, 24-26, 26-28, 25-19, and 15-7, despite coach Norman Miguel acknowledging the team's vulnerability.

Bella Belen led National University with 21 points, including 18 attacks, while Evangeline Alinsug contributed 19 attacks. The team's victory came after a challenging start to the season.

Meanwhile, Adamson University and the University of the Philippines will compete against each other at 2:00 p.m., both looking to break into the win column following losses in their first matches.

In the men's division, the National University Bulldogs play the Blue Eagles at 12 noon after the Falcons and Fighting Maroons match at 10 a.m., with Ateneo remaining optimistic despite losing their streak-ending match.
