NU men's and women's volleyball teams win against DLSU

National University's men's volleyball team secured their first match victory against De La Salle University with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-19 win on Sunday, Feb. 16, while the Lady Bulldogs also opened their women’s campaign with a decisive 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 victory over De La Salle University in front of 16,624 fans at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Coach Dante Alinsunurin highlighted his team's performance, emphasizing preparation and improvement each day despite pressure, noting that NU has a winning culture as evidenced by Leo Aringo's 20 points and Greg Ancheta's excellent sets in their opening match.

In the women’s game, veteran hitters Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon were key contributors with Belen scoring 14 points and Solomon adding 13 to power National University. New head coach Sherwin Meneses praised his team for working hard since training and securing a strong start against La Salle.

National University capitalized on the absence of key De La Salle players to assert dominance in both men's and women’s matches, outgunning them in crucial points.

The Lady Bulldogs maintained their momentum with strong performances from Alexa Mata and playmaker Lams Lamina, who activated her hitters with 20 excellent sets. NU aims to keep the ball rolling on Wednesday against Ateneo while La Salle looks to immediately turn things around on Saturday against Adamson.
