National U rallies to beat FEU 62-60 in UAAP Season 87

National University secured its first win in UAAP Season 87 with a dramatic comeback victory over Far Eastern University, winning 62-60 on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Despite starting poorly and trailing by as much as 17 points early on, National U mounted a strong fourth-quarter rally to take the lead with a 15-0 run, limiting FEU to just five points in the final quarter.

Coach Jeff Napa attributed their performance to initial tension from the previous game against La Salle and the absence of key player Mo Diassana, emphasizing that his players need to rely on each other more now.

PJ Palacielo led National University with nine points and six rebounds, while Jake Figueroa added eight points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals; Kenshin Padrones contributed eight points and 10 rebounds.

Far Eastern University had a chance to win at the buzzer but Janrey Pasaol missed all three free throws, sealing National U's comeback victory.
