National University clinches perfect first-round record, beats UST 5-2 in UAAP women's volleyball

National University secured another thrilling five-set victory over the University of Santo Tomas to complete their first-round sweep in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament on Sunday.

With this win, National University maintained a perfect 7-0 record while UST ended their season with a 5-2 record and narrowly missed out on clinching the second seed.

Alyssa Solomon was instrumental in leading the Lady Bulldogs' comeback, finishing with 24 points including 21 kills and three blocks.

UST libero Detdet Pepito highlighted that her team's poor receiving skills were a factor in their loss, despite holding a 2-1 lead at one point.

Pepito emphasized that there are still areas for improvement for the Tigresses if they want to succeed in the second half of the season and noted their performance against the taller Lady Bulldogs was promising.
