National U secures historic four-peat in men's volleyball

National University secured a historic four-peat by defeating the University of Santo Tomas in Game 2 of the Season 86 UAAP men's volleyball finals on Wednesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

With an audience of 7,089 fans, National U completed their sweep of the series after winning the first game and clinching victory with a score of 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 25-15 in one hour and 54 minutes.

Owa Retamar was named Finals MVP for delivering 26 excellent sets and contributing nine digs and three points, while Buds Buddin led NU with 28 markers and Nico Almendras followed closely with 20 points.

In the last decade, National University has become the dominant force in UAAP volleyball, amassing eight titles across both men's and women's divisions, including a four-peat in men's volleyball and two titles in three years for the women’s team.

Coach Dante Alinsunurin praised his players' dedication, noting that this was their toughest championship run ever and expressing gratitude for his players' desire to win the title.

Retamar expressed confidence in his teammates' ability to maintain the Bulldogs' winning streak as he leaves the team by the end of the season.
