National University beats UST in 4 sets to stay solo second

National University defeated University of Santo Tomas in four sets to secure its fourth consecutive victory in the UAAP Season 87 men's volleyball tournament.

The Bulldogs improved to a solo second place with a 6-1 record after winning Sunday’s match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, overcoming a first-set setback and surviving UST with scores of 16-25, 25-20, 25-21, 29-27.

Leo Aringo Jr. led NU with 13 points, including four blocks and seven digs; Jade Disquitado contributed 12 points and 16 receptions while Michaelo Buddin and Peng Taguibolos added 11 and 10 points respectively.

UST struggled despite Josh Ybanez's efforts of 17 points; however, their high error count (39) compared to NU’s 19 errors sealed the match for National University.

With the score tied at 27 in the fourth set, Taguibolos delivered a crucial spike followed by an Aringo block on Josh Ybañez to seal the victory after one hour and 49 minutes.
