UST Tiger Cubs edge NUNS 89-85 in UAAP Game 2

UST Tiger Cubs narrowly edged out National University Nazareth School (NUNS) with an 89-85 victory in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 87 boys' basketball finals on Thursday, March 20.

Koji Buenaflor led UST with a crucial 24-point performance and key free throws late in the game, while Charles Esteban added 16 points and Carl Manding contributed 15 points including three critical three-pointers in the final quarter.

Despite Collins Akowe's standout effort for NUNS with 28 points and 26 rebounds, turnovers and missed opportunities led to their defeat as UST held on despite a late rally by the Bullpups.

UST improved their shooting efficiency from Game 1, converting 14-of-37 attempts on three-point shots compared to 4-of-26 in the previous game.

The decisive Game 3 of the series is set for next Thursday, March 27 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
