Nora Aunor dies of respiratory failure, son confirms

Nora Aunor, the National Artist and Philippine superstar, died of acute respiratory failure, as confirmed by her son Ian de Leon during a press conference on Thursday, April 16.

Ian disclosed in an interview with Vicky Morales and Mariz Umali on '24 Oras' that his mother's last message to him was a farewell note expressing love for her grandchildren.

He clarified earlier that contrary to rumors, Nora did not die during her medical surgery but experienced difficulty breathing after the operation, leading to further procedures as her health declined.

Nora's son highlighted her significant contributions to Philippine entertainment and noted her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Ian expressed deep gratitude to fans, colleagues, and the public for their tributes and messages of support during this difficult time.

Aunor's public viewing will last until Sunday, April 20, at 4 pm, while her final wake night on Monday, April 21, is reserved for family and friends. Her state funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
