NCR COVID reproduction number drops to 1.20

The COVID-19 reproduction number in Metro Manila dropped to 1.20 on January 19 from 2.95 a week earlier.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David noted that the one-week growth rate in new cases decreased by -42%, indicating a clear downward trend.

Despite this improvement, NCR remains classified as 'very high risk' with an average daily attack rate still considered severe at 83.93.

Other areas like Cebu City and Davao City are experiencing upward surges in new cases while Metro Manila's case numbers continue to decline.

OCTA expects daily cases in NCR to drop below 1,000 by Valentine’s Day following a peak of around 8,000 cases on January 15.
