DOH: Davao Region tops Visayas-Mindanao in COVID-19 case surge

Davao Region has seen the highest sustained increase in COVID-19 cases in Visayas and Mindanao, with a 164.72% rise in cases from January 19 to January 26 compared to the previous week.

Western Visayas and Central Visayas followed Davao Region with an 87.36% increase in cases during the same period.

The DOH noted that these regions have been at moderate risk for bed utilization and low moderate risk for ICU facilities since January 19, while Cebu City is classified as 'high risk' by OCTA Research Group due to a significant rise in new cases.
