National University beats Adamson 7-4 in UAAP baseball opener

National University secured their opening victory against Adamson University with a 7-4 scoreline on Day 1 of the UAAP Season 87 baseball tournament at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Sophomore catcher Charles Chua scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, breaking a 4-all tie and delivering a crucial single to center field that brought home Julius Cesar Soriano.

Gio Gorpido and Kent Altarejos provided additional hits to extend National University's lead in the final inning, solidifying their victory.

National University's starting pitcher Amiel de Guzman performed well, allowing only four hits over seven innings with seven strikeouts.

Adamson will look to bounce back when they face the University of Santo Tomas on Sunday.
