Philippines logs over 13k new COVID-19 cases

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines increased to over 13,000 on Friday, August 13, marking the highest daily count since April.

As of Friday, the total number of confirmed cases reached 1,713,302 with active cases rising to 96,395, the highest since April 24.

The DOH reported that mild cases make up 95.8% of active cases, asymptomatic cases 1%, severe cases 1.4%, and critical cases 0.8%. A total of 1,587,069 have recovered, marking the tenth consecutive day with more new infections than recoveries.

On Thursday, August 12, over 12,000 new cases were recorded, pushing active cases to 87,663, also a high since April 24.

The DOH emphasized the importance of adhering to minimum public health standards as case numbers continue to rise.
