Metro Manila mayors restrict unvaccinated residents' movement

Metro Manila mayors agreed on Monday, January 3, to restrict the movement of unvaccinated individuals in response to a surge in COVID-19 cases possibly caused by the Omicron variant.

The MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos stated Tuesday that people with medical conditions preventing vaccination should be exempted from these restrictions.

Abalos noted around 100,000 to 250,000 individuals in Metro Manila remain unvaccinated.

The DILG secretary Eduardo Año supported the MMC resolution and emphasized that eighty percent of ICU patients are unvaccinated.
