Iloilo tightens travel rules, tests inbound travelers

Iloilo City and province tightened travel requirements for inbound travelers from outside Western Visayas due to the Omicron variant threat.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. extended Alert Level 2 status, requiring a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before travel for all residents and non-residents regardless of vaccination status.

City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas announced plans to conduct testing for travelers arriving from Metro Manila, Cebu, and Boracay, with three public and one private accredited laboratories available in Iloilo City.

The city government is also considering quarantine measures for travelers from other places and urges residents to get vaccinated and have booster shots.
