Meralco Bolts defeat Converge 116-88 despite injuries

Five players scored in double digits as the Meralco Bolts overcame a slow start and injury woes to defeat Converge by a score of 116-88 in the PBA Governors' Cup on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Allen Durham led the team with 27 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, while Chris Banchero contributed 24 points.

Anjo Caram stepped up in the absence of key players Allein Maliksi, Aaron Black, Raymond Almazan, and Cliff Hodge (who will be sidelined for two to three weeks) to score 16 points on a perfect 4-of-4 clip from three-point land, particularly contributing 11 points in the pivotal third quarter.

Coach Luigi Trillo praised the contributions of second-string players such as Alvin Pasaol and Jolo Mendoza, who scored 12 and 10 points respectively, helping the Bolts secure their victory despite missing four crucial players.

With this win, Meralco improved to a 4-1 record in the tournament and took the top spot in Group A, while Converge fell to a 2-3 record.
