Maring set to exit PAR but rain persists

Severe Tropical Storm Maring (Kompasu) was set to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday, October 12, but it continued to bring heavy rain to Northern Luzon.

As of Tuesday morning, Maring was located about 315 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan and moving west at 20 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h and gustiness up to 125 km/h.

Maring made landfall in Fuga Island, Cagayan on Monday evening causing floods and landslides in parts of Cagayan Valley, the Ilocos Region, and CAR.

PAGASA warned that Maring and the enhanced southwest monsoon would continue to trigger heavy rainfall over parts of Luzon throughout Tuesday.
