Marikina reports surge in COVID-19 cases, hospitals overflow

Marikina City reported a surge in COVID-19 cases, leading to 34 medical workers at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center testing positive.

These infected health workers have received only one dose of the vaccine and are currently confined within the hospital's wards.

Mayor Marcelino Teodoro announced that Marikina hospitals are operating beyond capacity with a 200 percent increase in cases since March 9, when there were 409 active cases.

The city now has around 890 active cases, pushing hospitals to refer patients to facilities in neighboring areas.
