Philippines hits 578K recoveries, logs record-high cases

As of Sunday, March 21, the total number of recoveries from COVID-19 in the Philippines reached 577,754, representing 87% of all confirmed cases.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 15,288 new recoveries on Sunday alone.

Active infections increased to 73,072 with 7,757 new confirmed cases and 39 additional deaths recorded.

On Saturday, March 20, the DOH logged a record-high of 7,999 new infections, pushing active cases to 80,642.

The majority of active cases are mild (95%), followed by asymptomatic (2.3%) and critical (1.1%).

The DOH continues to urge the public to adhere to minimum health standards to curb the surge in infections.
