Marcos proposes direct PH-China communication for WPS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. proposed establishing a direct communication mechanism between the Philippines and China during his state visit to Beijing.

The new agreement aims to prevent misunderstandings and incidents in the West Philippine Sea by elevating official communications to a ministerial level.

Marcos assured that members of the Philippine delegation would have direct access to him, while Chinese counterparts would have similar access to President Xi Jinping.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of confidence-building measures and reaffirmed the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea.
