Philippines, Indonesia agree to repatriate Mary Jane Veloso

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has reached an agreement with Indonesia to repatriate Filipina death row inmate Mary Jane Veloso, aiming to bring her home before Christmas.

Veloso will continue serving her sentence under Filipino jurisdiction but not face execution as it is prohibited under Philippine law after 14 years in Indonesian custody.

Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Raul Angelo Bongalon commended the Marcos administration for its efforts and highlighted strong diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the Philippines in resolving this issue.

Mary Jane Veloso's legal counsel, Edre Olalia, expressed hope that she would be repatriated as soon as possible with minimal fanfare to ensure a smooth transition.

President Marcos Jr.'s actions demonstrate a proactive government addressing citizens' needs, including immediate responses to recent typhoon victims.
