Mapua beats Lyceum in NCAA women's volleyball

Mapua University secured its first victory in the NCAA Season 100 women's volleyball tournament on Friday with a comeback win over Lyceum of the Philippines University at the LPU Gym.

Despite trailing 7-11 in the decisive fifth set, Mapua rallied to outscore Lyceum 9-3 and clinch the match with a final score of 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 25-20, 16-14.

Freighanne Garcia finished with 14 points and 17 digs while Raissa Janel Ricablanca also scored 14 points for the Lady Cardinals, who played steadier in the fifth set to wrap up the match in two hours and 13 minutes.

Gregchelle Cabadin chipped in 12 points while Therese Angeli Manalo and Alyanna Nicole Ong scored nine and eight points respectively.

Earlier in the day, Mapua also triumphed over Lyceum in men's volleyball with a score of 23-25, 14-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-9, maintaining an undefeated record in three matches.

The women’s victory marked Mapua's first win after losing their initial two games, while Lyceum fell to a third loss with only one win.
