Lyceum beats San Sebastian 93-85 to end losing streak

Lyceum of the Philippines University defeated San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 93-85, on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre to end a three-game losing streak and improve their standing to 7-8.

Renz Villegas led Lyceum with a career-high 25 points, while John Barba contributed 20 crucial points in the closing minutes to secure the victory.

Coach Gilbert Malabanan emphasized the importance of this win for his team's playoff hopes and said they must treat each remaining game as a make-or-break opportunity.

Lyceum overcame an early deficit and surged ahead with a strong second quarter, leading by as many as 24 points in the third quarter before sealing their victory.

Meanwhile, Arellano edged out JRU, 81-77, to rise to a 6-9 record and keep their playoff bid alive, while San Sebastian's loss dropped them to 4-11, making elimination imminent for the league's bottom two teams.
