Mangubat scores buzzer-beater, lifts Mapua over Lyceum

Lawrence Mangubat scored the game-winning three-pointer with 3.9 seconds left to give Mapua a narrow 69-68 victory over Lyceum in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament on Tuesday, October 29.

Mangubat, who tied his career-high with 16 points and contributed five rebounds and two assists, hit the decisive shot after receiving a pass from Clint Escamis to help Mapua secure an 11-3 record.

Mapua has officially entered the Final Four race of the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament, with Mangubat named Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Player of the Week for his performance.

Lyceum's Renz Villegas led all scorers with 22 points but missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer as his team dropped its third straight game.

Despite blowing a 16-point lead, Mapua managed to hold on for the win, while Lyceum struggled without key players due to injuries.

Mangubat has been doing extra work on his shooting daily before and after practice to prepare for crucial moments like Tuesday's game-winning shot.
