LPA brings heavy rains over eastern Philippines, warns of possible flash floods

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), located east northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, may bring heavy to intense rains over Masbate, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Biliran on Sunday, August 31.

PAGASA warns that cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms are expected in Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Quezon, and the rest of Eastern Visayas, Central Visivas, and Bicol Region due to the LPA.

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting Western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas.

PAGASA advises that possible flash floods or landslides may occur in areas highly susceptible to these hazards, especially those with significant antecedent rainfall.
