Palace warns LGUs face sanctions for failing to distribute SAP by April 30

Malacañang warned local government units (LGUs) on Tuesday that they face administrative and criminal sanctions if they fail to distribute emergency subsidies to poor families by April 30.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated that LGUs must complete the distribution of cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) or risk being held liable for dereliction of duty, which is a form of graft.

On Monday, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año urged LGUs to fast-track the payout of SAP financial assistance to beneficiaries by April 30.
