DOF extends local tax, fee deadlines to June 25

The Department of Finance (DOF) has extended until June 25 the payment deadlines for all local taxes, fees, and charges that fell due during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III issued DOF Circular No. 002-2020 on April 23 to provide relief under Republic Act No. 11469 (Bayanihan to Heal as One Act).

Prior to this directive, only 146 LGUs had independently extended payment deadlines.

The circular suspends the counting period for local taxes and fees during the lockdown and ensures no interest or penalties will be applied until June 25.

Local treasurers are instructed to defer certain collection activities until after the extension period.
