PH adopts new terms for classifying Covid-19 cases

The Philippines has adopted new terms for classifying individuals with suspected or confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases.

Under the updated classification system, patients under investigation (PUIs) with mild, severe, or critical symptoms whose results are pending will now be categorized as 'suspect' cases.

People who have undergone testing but results are inconclusive or conducted in unofficial labs will be classified as 'probable', while those who tested positive will be called 'confirmed'.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) approved this system on Wednesday, directing local government units and state agencies to follow it.
