DOLE advises private sector to suspend work during calamities

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminded private sector employers to suspend work during natural or man-made calamities to ensure employee safety.

Citing provisions of the Labor Code, DOLE advised employers to coordinate with safety committees or officers to suspend operations during such events.

Employees who refuse to work due to imminent danger will not be sanctioned but may not receive pay unless company policies or collective bargaining agreements provide otherwise.
