DOLE offers internships, emergency jobs for Taal evacuees

DOLE is offering internship jobs to those affected by the Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas.

Evacuees can earn minimum wage as volunteers in coordination and rehabilitation efforts of local government units.

Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said DOLE met with mayors from 10 affected municipalities to discuss internships for evacuees.

DOLE has also provided emergency employment assistance to around 10,000 beneficiaries in the same municipalities.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III noted that instructions on work will come from the towns' mayors and DOLE will pay beneficiaries PHP72.6 million for one month.
