TUCP urges 25% hazard pay for Taal danger zone workers

On Saturday, January 18, the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) urged employers to provide at least a 25% hazard pay for workers in the Taal Volcano danger zone.

The affected employees include those working in banks, hotels, restaurants, and media covering the events since January 12.

TUCP President Raymond Mendoza stated that the hazardous conditions justify this payment for both regular and contractual employees.

An estimated 2,000 workers in Tagaytay City's service industry are impacted, with an additional 1,000 journalists and support personnel also entitled to hazard pay.
