UST ends DLSU's UAAP women's volleyball title defense

The De La Salle Lady Spikers' bid to defend their UAAP women's volleyball championship was ended by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

UST, seeded second, defeated third-seeded DLSU in a match that marked their return to the championship round after five years with a score of 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 19-25, and 15-7.

Despite scoring 14 points, 12 digs, and eight excellent receptions, DLSU's Angel Canino acknowledged the team's defeat but expressed it will serve as motivation for next season.

Coach Noel Orcullo attributed their failure to defend their title to various factors, including Canino's absence due to injury earlier in the season and Soreño's shoulder blow.

Canino thanked fans for their unwavering support throughout the year and emphasized that this loss will fuel her determination for next season.
