Kazakhstan, India defeat Singapore, Iran in Pool A

Kazakhstan and India opened the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup for Women with decisive victories over Singapore and Iran, respectively, in Pool A matches played at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday.

Kazakhstan, ranked 31st globally, defeated Singapore in straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-21, finishing the match in one hour and twelve minutes.

Kristina Belova led Kazakhstan with a game-high 15 points, including eight attacks and seven aces, while Sana Anarkulova contributed 13 points, mostly from attacks.

India, ranked 62nd, secured their victory over Iran with scores of 25-17, 25-23, and 25-21, powered by Radha Anagha's 16 points and Anusree Kambrath Poyilil's 15 points.

The matches set the stage for Thursday’s fixtures where Pilipinas Alas will face Australia at 7 p.m., Indonesia will play Hong Kong at 10 a.m., India will take on Chinese Taipei at 1 p.m., and Vietnam will square off against Singapore at 4 p.m.
