Alas Pilipinas beats Australia in AVC Challenge Cup opener

The Philippine women's volleyball team, Alas Pilipinas, secured a strong start in their campaign for the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup with a four-set victory over Australia on Thursday, May 23.

Eya Laure and Sisi Rondina, who last played together at the University of Santo Tomas five years ago, reunited to lead Alas Pilipinas with 17 and 16 points respectively.

The match was held in front of a passionate crowd of 4,945 spectators at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Laure praised Rondina for her guidance during her rookie year, emphasizing the importance of their teamwork in achieving success.

Alas Pilipinas aims to build on this momentum as they face India (2-0) on Friday at 7 p.m. in Pool A.
