Josie becomes super typhoon, leaves PAR soon after entry

Typhoon Nanmadol intensified into Super Typhoon Josie on Friday, September 16, and left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) shortly after entry.

Josie entered PAR at 5:40 pm and exited at 10 pm, staying inside for only 4 hours and 20 minutes.

PAGASA noted that Josie's maximum sustained winds increased to 185 km/h with gustiness up to 230 km/h, undergoing rapid intensification while within PAR.

Forecasts show Josie moving northeast towards Japan’s Ryukyu Islands and mainland Japan without any direct impact on the Philippines.
