Jericho Cruz named PBA Finals MVP for San Miguel Beer's championship win

Jericho Cruz was named the PBA Press Corps Finals Most Valuable Player after San Miguel Beer won the Philippine Cup with a 107-96 victory in Game 6 on Friday night.

Cruz averaged 13.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists over the six games of the series, contributing significantly to his team's championship win, particularly scoring 23 points in Game 4 and leading with 20 points in Game 5.

In the decisive game, Cruz scored 13 points, provided six assists, and grabbed four rebounds to help secure San Miguel Beer's record-extending 30th title victory.

This is Cruz's first Finals MVP award in addition to his fourth PBA championship overall. He also acknowledged June Mar Fajardo as the greatest of all time despite competing for the MVP award.

Cruz expressed gratitude for the unexpected honor and highlighted Coach Leo Austria’s return as a key factor in their success, while addressing there was no bad blood with TNT officials after being accused of 'showboating' during Game 3.

Following the series, Cruz will consider whether to rest or continue playing due to knee issues ahead of Guam's participation in the FIBA Asia Cup.
