DOH reports 488 COVID-19 clusters nationwide

As of Wednesday, the DOH reported 488 clusters of COVID-19 cases nationwide.

Of these, 379 were in communities, 46 in health facilities, 24 in jails, and 39 in other areas.

From Monday to Wednesday, 35 new clusters were identified — mostly in communities with some in health facilities, jails, and other areas.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire noted on Tuesday that the recent rise in cases is due to clustering and community transmission rather than improved testing.

Vergeire emphasized the need for caution as these numbers reflect actual spread of the virus, not just increased testing capabilities.
