Imee Marcos withdraws from brother's slate, runs independently

Senator Imee Marcos announced on Saturday, September 28, that she has withdrawn from her brother President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s senatorial lineup for the 2025 elections.

Despite her withdrawal, President Marcos stated Monday that his administration's coalition, Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, continues to support Imee’s senatorial bid and welcomes her participation in campaign activities.

During a press conference on Monday, Senator Marcos clarified that she will be seeking reelection outside the official slate, aiming to avoid being caught between political factions and maintain independence.

Senator Marcos emphasized her desire to serve as a bridge between different political groups, particularly between her family's faction and those aligned with former President Rodrigo Duterte’s camp.

Filing for certificates of candidacy begins on October 1 and ends on October 8, during which it will be clear if Imee remains part of the Nacionalista Party.
