Sen. Imee Marcos opposes VP Sara Duterte’s impeachment

Sen. Imee Marcos on Thursday reiterated her opposition to the looming impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Marcos urged the government to focus on addressing real issues such as high rice prices and unemployment instead of impeachment proceedings, stating that these are not solutions to the country's problems.

She emphasized in a statement that focusing on destabilization is shameful and called for unity in facing the nation's challenges.

Senate President Francis Escudero addressed Sen. Marcos' remarks at a Kapihan sa Senado forum, acknowledging her stance but noting that impeachment proceedings are a constitutional duty the chamber must face.

Escudero assured that the process would be fair, impartial, and credible, emphasizing the importance of a just procedure over the results.
